winter snow

here's some photos from a few weeks ago when the outer banks experienced blizzard-like conditions (kinda). jesse had our digital camera in iceland (ironic he was there while it was an "iceland" here), so these are shots off of my cell phone. they're not the greatest, but you get the point. it was truly awesome!

there's our "dirt road". i loved the way it looked with the snow!

this is a covered bridge down the road from us. it's one of the coolest places on the outer banks, in my opinion of course.

it twas a merry Christmas

Christmas is my favorite. i love it so much. even though this year we worked a lot, we still managed to get some good quality time with our family and friends. rick and jennie came up earlier; mom and roman, chad and april, matt and megan all came to visit; and the beachams and shells are just right down the road. we had an obbc party, a night of caroling, a gathering at the beachams, an engagement party, non-stop Christmas music and lots of food. i just can't help but wear red and green every day from thanksgiving until Christmas. yes, i decorated my sweatshirt below. don't be jealous.

we all love the show "the office" so of course i would get the boardgame for my brother as a gift. turns out, he knew the most about the show, and therefore won the game. it was "awesome blossom". i love all the character cut-outs below. do you know the first names of the founders of "dunder and mifflin"? doubt it. they were both named robert.

brad and rachel hosted a small party that included matt (brad's brother in the middle), who rarely gets to come home. all them boys below are hilarious. please be sure to check out mark (2nd from left) and his outfit. that night we played a game in which brad and i won and jamie (on the right), as usual accused us of cheating. he hates to lose, and it was a competitive group of people...
another night there was an engagement party for brittany and adam (who got engaged in nyc on the 13th). brittany loves Christmas just as much as me, so it was only appropriate and perfect that adam surprised her and proposed to her in front of the rockefeller Christmas tree in n.y. this party was a follow up of the joyful event. see the next picture to really view our love and passion for the holiday that celebrates Jesus' birth.

aunt whit (pronounced "ant" NOT "ont", i'm from the south thank you) and uncle jesse are the coolest aunt and uncle ever... we gave emily and seth giant sugar daddy's to enjoy for the next five years. and when they're done, their teeth may look like those fake ones we gave seth. oops.

good ole "pop" below lookin' all studious with his preppy sweater from J.Crew and his new book. our friend buffy always talks about what a stylish clothing consultant and surfer he is... she's right.
ladies ladies ladies.
i'm skipping around a bit. as you can see, mom is very stoked on her new bathrobe. the woman has a great collection of them. roman doesn't seem to care quite as much.

i gave jesse the best gift of all... bodyboard fins. i should have called our friend scott to make sure they are good ones, but i ran out of time. these are for his swimming exercises in the ocean. AND he actually loves to bodyboard when it's huge and choppy... shhhhhh.
brother and sister april with their precious boardgame. chad always looks this happy.
roman loves his sweats, under armor, zubas, and acorns.

well, that's a wrap folks. these are a few of my favorite Christmas pictures. it was eventful, crazy, fun, and i hate to see it go. 2009 is here and we'll see what happens next back in the swamps of kitty hawk...

Christmas Eve

sadly the Christmas season is coming to a close. today is Christmas Eve, and it was a great day. although i had to work part of the day, jesse and the man-folk went out for some good old- fashioned fun... shooting guns. my brother's father-n-law, otis, took roman and jesse to some wilderness in currituck. he monitored them to make sure they didn't shoot off their arm or an innocent bystander. that's my big bro below aiming at... the air i guess?

my precious husband, jesse takes a shot.
roman finds a target as otis looks like he's running for his life.
once i got home my mom and i made some dinner (meemaw's oyster stew), and then the beacham's dropped by for a bit. marsha showed emily and seth how to make reindeer cookies.
she is such a talented woman... and cute too.me, mom, and rach. i love Christmas.
more man-folk.
after dinner, some friends came over and we went Christmas caroling around the neighborhood. brittany and adam just got engaged in new york city (i was there too; it was awesome) and marsha gave them their first little engagement gift... a fun bride and groom frame.
the whole snyder family also partook in caroling. corissa is too cute. can you believe she has two kids? yes, she's married. i know she looks 12 years old.
here's our group getting ready to butter up the ears of families around town and spread some festive cheer! "joy to the world" was our best song; lots of harmonizing.
the boys rode in the back of jesse's truck. chick's in noah and corissa's truck.
one of our favorite family's also joined us... the brooks. it's true ronnie IS getting older; he's starting to grow facial hair.
awwwww, me and my mommy cozying up in the back of the truck.
MERRY CHRISTMAS.

a beacham-hines chreesmus

it's "chreesmus".... that's what rick and jennie always say. they made the haul from myrtle beach to kitty hawk this past week and spent a few days with us. we went to brad and rachel's to celebrate, eat, open gifts, and look for arrowheads along the sound. we all had a blast. i think the pictures say it all.

this pic above is definitely one of my favorite photos of all time. i love everything from rick's outfit to his face. we love this guy! this is kind of rick's modeling portfolio in a way...
now that's a good-lookin' couple if i ever saw one.

jesse loves honey on everything. that must be why he's so sweet. awwww...

emily and seth are so much fun. i don't think chad and i ever liked each other that much. now we kinda hug... or just fake handshake.
sistas and bruthas. we are so blessed with an amazing family!!
presents extravaganza! i love watching kids open their gifts. paper everywhere and tons of smiles!
precious moments with dad.
below is emily climbing a tree in their backyard. the beach behind her is where we all go treasure-hunting to find arrowheads, indian pottery, and other special nuggets of history.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

a camera at last!

why are we smiling? i'll tell you why. we finally got another camera. this one will not be going in the canoe with me ever... jesse said so. our great friends from barbados, paul and lisa, were here last week and got us this wonderful device for Christmas. it's marvelous. we love it! we've only had it a few hours but already managed to take 41 pics. here are some of our favorites: below is our incredibly awesome Christmas tree we chopped down in boone. love it!

sebi looks at his dad with pure love and joy. otherwise he gets no food.
if you don't know how much i love this dog. you don't know me at all...

jesse really really loves sugar. i mean REALLY loves her! too much possibly.

how can you not melt when you have that face looking at you?

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

thanksgiving in the mountains

thanksgiving marks the beginning of my favorite time of year... Christmas. i love to eat, i love Christmas trees, i love the sights, sounds, red and green decor, and being with family and friends. this thanksgiving we joined my mom and stepdad at my brother (chad) and april's house in the n.c. mountains. the festivities included hours of skip-bo, walking around downtown boone, chopping wood, watching movies, eating granny/mom's famous chocolate cake, and cutting down our Christmas trees. it was wonderful!
also, roman brought o.j. simpson's leather glove and we all took turns wearing it for good luck during skip-bo. yeah, we can be weird sometimes. did i mention we also continued the tradition of the matel football game tournament?
i have mad flute- playing skills. i can even play the gourd... four dogs and a cat took over the house. you gotta love those faces.

good ole marsh and roman hangin' out on the tree farm.
big brother and hubby carrying our ginormous tree that we cut down.

rodney chadwick and april feeling joyful and jubilant.

a rare sight for us beach people... a frozen pond and a Christmas tree farm.
