just like the good ole days...

the girl below (in the blue coat) doing a sweet jump off the picnic table is catherine. she has been my best friend since i was three. we grew up next door to each other on wrightsville beach. she went on almost every family vacation with me growing up, and was the maid-of-honor at my wedding. she taught me how to dive off our dock, swing in a bosins chair (on a sailboat), perform beach boys concerts in the back of a truck, and much more; most importantly, she turned me on to "little house on the prairie"- the best show in the world. i don't really think i taught her much, except how to take hits from a cabbage patch... long story. however, we both learned how to do many sports together: kickball, crabbing, hydrosliding, rollerblading, skiing, wakeboarding, surfing, soccer, fort-building... and at the age of sixteen, we both picked up snowboarding. over the years we've been on many snow-shredding adventures. virginia, west virginia, california, and of course north carolina are some of the places where we've put our skills to the test. twelve years later we wanted to really see what we were made of at the decrepid age of 28. this latest journey to boone, north carolina was a great reunion, as we now live in different towns in nc. we met up in raleigh and she jumped in my truck with me and my two dogs. we headed west for my brother and sister-n-law's house and the beautiful mountains of our GREAT state! we rode the lifts at beech and sugar mountains, but found beech to be our favorite. check out the pics to see that we may not be as old as we feel... especially today with my sore legs, arms, and back. it was a fabulous time. mad props for chad and april who were fantastic hosts. my apologies to our wonderful husbands who were out-of-town and unable to join us (don't feel sorry for them, they were on surf trips). also, many thanks to the Lord who gave us incredible weather, perfect snow conditions, no crowds, and kept us from any major bodily harm while attempting back flips, extreme railslides and 360s (okay we didn't really do all that).
