Junior is my mom and stepdad's dog. He is the most handsome black lab I've ever seen. Always full of energy, joy, and love. He has been a blessing to our family for the last six years. About three weeks ago, cancer was found in his body and the outlook for him is not very encouraging. Many of you may find it silly to ask for prayer for a pet, however, I know there are also many of you who have dogs/pets and know that they are like family! Being the son of our late chocolate lab, Boris; and the sister of my brother's dog, Dixie, Junior truly is part of the family. The saying "man's best friend" perfectly applies to him. He has been a great friend for my mom and Roman as they have moved far away from all family and friends to serve Jesus in Kansas. Junior has been a loving pal during sorrowful times for my mom as she lost her mother and father in the last two years. Dogs have a comforting way of saying they love you by nuzzling up at your side and resting their head on your leg. I believe with all my heart that pets are a gift from the Lord!
On a more cheerful note, my mom has decided to return to her roots... her and Roman are packing their belongings and making their way back to good ole North Carolina!! We are praying, and asking people to pray, that Junior will be well enough to make the trek. He underwent chemotherapy yesterday and has one more session before they get on the road. Despite the grim report given by the vet, we know and trust that God is capable of a miracle if it's His will.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 -18 Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
