as jesse prepares to head to senegal, africa on monday, we decided to spend the day together doing something we wouldn't normally do (days off usually consist of vacuuming, raking, watching "the office). today we headed up to corova, which is north of kitty hawk, duck and corolla. corova is a quaint town located amongst an everlasting schmorgesborg of sand dunes. there are breathtaking sights and also some strange ones (hence the airstream on stilts picture). to get there you must have a 4-wheel drive automobile, a sense of adventure, and patience (if you're looking for horses). being able to drive on the beach is so wonderful and refreshing. you literally don't have a choice when you're visiting corova (15 miles up the shoreline) because there's no paved roads... however it can be dangerous so it is important to look for petrified stumps, beached whales, and enormous seagulls feasting on dead sharks. we also saw some lovely deer chillaxing in the woods (chilling/relaxing). it was an exciting, beautiful, cold, windy, overcast outer banks day... honestly one of my favorite days in a long time.
