the mud room

"the mud room" is one of my favorite little spots these days. it's my cute pottery shed located just beyond the house, tucked into a cluster of pine trees (NC's state tree). during the winter and cooler seasons i enjoy grabbing a bucket of warm water, cranking up my kerosene heater, and tuning into my favorite show "little house on the prairie". i know, i know, everyone thought my life dreams were to die standing behind the register in a surf shop. false, i love throwing pottery... and until my hands shrivel up and my back is permanently out-of-whack, i plan on pursuing this passion. it's true, i'm a little unmotivated at times. it does require getting muddy, having tore-up fingernails, smelling strange fumes from the kiln, and once again... back pains. however, i love it. this weekend our church is having it's 3rd annual "mosaic" art show so i've been extra-excited to start kicking my wheel and slingin' some mud. these are some photos of my latest work. i just love the way the clay looks when it's fresh off the wheel! the little ones are for you mom!

The studio looks good. There's not many things more satisfying than lifting a leather hard piece off the bat and starting to trim...I think there's a box of stuff for you on Lindy Lane, did Hank tell you?
